Microbial transformation of nitriles to high-value acids or amides.
Biotransformation of nitriles mediated by nitrile-amide converting enzymes has attracted considerable attention and developed tremendously in the recent years in China since it offers a valuable alternative to traditional chemical reaction which requires harsh conditions. As a result, an upsurge of these promising enzymes (including nitrile hydratase, nitrilase and amidase) has been taking plac...

Relief of procaspase inhibition enhances the potency of cancer chemotherapeutics Botham RC, Fan TM, Hergenrother PJ Manipulation of the apoptotic cascade is an effective and commonly employed strategy for the eradication of cancer cells. This work utilizes the small molecule PAC-1 to target the labile zinc pool, a physiological inhibitor of apoptosis. Labile zinc inhibits the conversion of proc...
متن کاملDNA-catalyzed hydrolysis of esters and aromatic amides.
We previously reported that DNA catalysts (deoxyribozymes) can hydrolyze DNA phosphodiester linkages, but DNA-catalyzed amide bond hydrolysis has been elusive. Here we used in vitro selection to identify DNA catalysts that hydrolyze ester linkages as well as DNA catalysts that hydrolyze aromatic amides, for which the leaving group is an aniline moiety. The aromatic amide-hydrolyzing deoxyribozy...
متن کاملFerric Hydrogensulfate [Fe(HSO4)3] As a Reusable Heterogeneous Catalyst for the Synthesis of 5-Substituted-1H-Tetrazoles and Amides
Ferric hydrogensulfate catalyzed the synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles via [2 + 3] cycloaddition of nitriles and sodium azide. This method has the advantages of high yields, simple methodology, and easy workup. The catalyst can be recovered by simple filtration and reused delivering good yields. Also, ferric hydrogensulfate catalyzed the hydrolysis of nitriles to primary amides under aqu...
متن کاملMicrowave-Assisted Syntheses of Amino Acid Ester Substituted Benzoic Acid Amides: Potential Inhibitors of Human CD81-Receptor HCV-E2 Interaction
Results from our group showed benzyl salicylate to be a moderate inhibitor of the CD81-LEL-HCV-E2 interaction. To increase the biological activity, heterocyclic substituted benzoic acids were coupled to amino acid esters via microwave assisted DCC-reaction. The prepared compounds were tested for their inhibitory potency by means of a fluorescence labeled antibody assay system using HUH7.5 cells.
